skanzen vychylovka

The open air museum is a national geography exhibition of the Kysuce museum. The exhibits are placed in the valley of Chmúra in the municipality of Nová Bystrica, part Vychylovka. The exposition gathers the most precious pieces of folk architecture preserved from the local settlements Riečnica and Harvelka which were flooded by the newly built water dam Nová Bystrica.

The national geography museum is open in summer from May to October. During the season, it prepares a wide variety of theme programmes presenting the fragments of the folk art such as traditional production techniques, scenes from family, seasonal and work traditions. The programmes are presented by folk groups and music ensembles from the Kysuce region.
